Enter the bios and make sure you have the sata controller enabled. It’s setting up a RAID array that is recommended against.

Not saying yours is, but it’s something to know about. I am using a brand new XP with SP2 disk. Sign up using Email and Password. Have you found the sata controller under integrated peripherals? I have been using an older computer I built from the recommendations I found here.

When you say it’s not in BIOS do you mean that it’s not listed as an available boot device, since I think that’s the only place that you would see it? I also moved the jumper to what I thought I was limiting the drive to 1. Welcome to Tech Support Guy! Then I would reclone the new drive from there and stand back and see what explodes. I tried all SATA connectors on the board, but no joy with detection.
It should be under integrated peripherals.
